J Stephens Plumbing
Concept website for a Lowcountry plumber who answers the phone from six in the morning.
A concept design I made on my own. J Stephens Plumbing is not a client.
Overview
Project overview
A second-generation plumbing company in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. In this concept site, the phone number, hours, and crew photos come first, and every section ends with a way to call or request an estimate.
Approach
How I approached it
This is a concept site I made on my own. People usually call a plumber in a hurry, so the site’s first job is to answer the two questions someone with water on the floor has: will someone pick up, and when?
The page opens with the hours instead of a slogan (Open at six. Still picking up at ten.), with the phone number as the largest thing on the screen and the full weekly schedule right below it. Services are grouped into the four ways people describe their problem, not the trade’s own categories, and every group ends with a way to call or request an estimate.
The site builds trust with evidence: photos of the crew and trucks on real jobs, the review count, the towns served, and the license number in the footer. The design is iron gray with one pipe-blue accent, so the photos stand out most.
What was delivered
Deliverables
- The page opens with the hours ("Open at six. Still picking up at ten.") and the phone number as the main button
- A tap-to-call button and the full weekly schedule directly under the headline
- Services grouped the way a homeowner would describe the problem: emergencies and repairs, water heaters and gas, lines and drains, fixtures
- Photos of the crew and real job sites instead of stock images, with captions describing the work
- Reviews, the six Lowcountry towns served, and the state license number, stated plainly
- An estimate request form sorted by problem type, with the free estimate and upfront pricing repeated next to it
Key decisions
- For emergency work, the hours matter most, so they come first
- An iron-gray background with one pipe-blue accent color; the job-site photos supply the rest
- A concept I made on my own, with original copy and design
